Training Topics

 

The Arizona Correctional Committee provides training through in-person meetings, phone calls, and video-conferencing to stake and branch leaders. This training is provided when approved by and at the direction of stake presidents. Stake presidents direct the correctional ministry.

 

Training may include, but is not limited to the following topics:

 

A. For Church Units providing support for the incarcerated:

  1. Using Priesthood Keys   

  2. Forming a Correctional Branch: Initial Steps

  3. Correctional Branch Callings, Operations, and Stewardship

  4. Class and/or Worship Service format

  5. Ministering through Mentoring and Letter-writing

  6. Church Membership Council within a Correctional Church Unit

  7. Starting and Managing Transition/Re-entry--Transition Coordinators

  8. Starting and Managing a Women's Ministry

  9. Addiction Recovery Program

10. Branch Staffing/Organization

11. Coordinating Efforts between Agent and Supporting Stakes

12. Role of the High Councilman

13. Building and Maintaining Relationships with Correctional Officials

14. Branch and Stake Correspondence

15. Training Presentation: for Stake Presidents, High Councilors, and Branch Presidencies

  1. Transition Process Overview

  2. Coordination with Correctional Branch Leadership and Correctional Branch Transition Coordinators

  3. Ministering to Ex-offenders in Your Stake/Ward

  4. Resources for Ex-offenders

  5. Safety Concerns and Considerations (Do’s and Don’ts)
